Today, i decided to make some
search engine optimization (aka SEO) on my DotNetNuke Blog. First of all i had to analysis results of
Google Index to fix current issues with
broken links,
invalid redirects and some other issues.
Well, currently Google says it has 76 results if i use search term "site:www.onlydnn.com". But i believe, most of them were
duplicate pages in search results.
REASON
Although it was not a good practice i have published OnlyDNN blogs a few times on my hosting account. Since my dev environment was not ready, i would like to create an initial draft of articles in my mind.
I created empty articles for about 25 articles and 10 categories. Then for some reason, i have deleted my live website. After a few days, i created a final
development website at my
local virtual machine.
My plan was creating content on this virtual machine and
synchronizing results with remote Database Server. First try was successful. However... Certainly i was expecting a nightmare with duplicate pages in search results. And of course it did happen after all.
SOLUTION
I said "I must take care of it" then decided to with a
URL Rewriting & Permanent Redirecting solution. I picked
UrlRewritingNet 2.0.
There was a good tutorial from Seablick Consulting about URLRewriting application. I will post the link here after i found it. Following instructions i was able to create my own
redirect and rewrite rules in an
External Configuration File. Tested results at my
local development environment and decided to go with live syncronization.
I'm going to create a series of articles for URL Rewriting Solutions for DotNetNuke.
