Canonical URL tag helps you setup a default URL, the search engines should have for a certain page within your website. Canonical tag is being used by Microsoft, Yahoo and Google. So far, so good. Then a question comes up.

How to setup a canonical url inside DotNetNuke?

Cool stuff. Really! DotNetNuke has built-in support for adding canonical URL tag inside page header.

  • Login to your portal as Administrator.
  • Go to any page where you want to add a canonical tag.
  • Expand Control Panel by clicking icon next Show Control Panel?
  • Click to Settings button under Page Functions.
  • Expand Advanced Settings.
  • You will find Page Header Tags under Appereance section.
  • Add the code like below.

Search engines will recognize this change next time they visit the page.
